I’ve taken a break from a lot of things this summer.
Trying to use my film camera a little more and my phone a bit less.
A slow summer. A good summer. A summer on film.
I thought a lot about what I love and what gives me energy and I realized that nothing gets be more excited then developing a roll of film. nothing.
I’m a firm believer that one should follow what gets them going- yet for some reason as much I love the craft I also have had a fear of it or perhaps a procrastination to begin. I don’t really know why.
Perhaps I’m scared that once I start it will become all consuming like most things I love in my life. But now that I have begun – my need to dive deeper into it continues to grows.
As I continue to develop the images I realize that film is really the only way for me to achieve my goal with photography. After working in digital for years, the depth of tone and grain can never be duplicated – there is no comparison.
I’m fortunate to find inspiration this summer,
This is a diary I put together as it all comes to an end –
As I edit the photos I realize my interest lies more in the composition of the photos together as much as the photos themselves.
A story board or collage if you will.
From cottage trips to NYC this is a little bit of everything.
We did a road trip back from NYC and ended up stopping in Ithaca which is known for there beautiful waterfalls. The photo below Taughhannock Falls.
This is summer.
